Known for its commitment to excellence, patriotism, and merit, American Cruise Lines has become a leader in the domestic cruise industry, continuously expanding its fleet with newly constructed ships, providing excellent opportunities for career growth and advancement for those passionate about hospitality and marine service.
The Assistant Hotel Manager (AHM) position is a pivotal role within the shipboard management team for the 2026 season. The AHM works closely with the Hotel Manager to oversee the hotel department onboard, ensuring top-tier service quality, adherence to company standards, and the fulfillment of guest expectations. This full-time, exempt role involves supervising various hotel department functions including dining service, culinary operations, housekeeping, guest services, shore excursions, onboard enrichment, and crew training. The Assistant Hotel Manager also supports the morale and professional development of the hotel team while ensuring safety, professionalism, and efficiency.
This position requires a hands-on, leadership-oriented individual capable of managing a diverse crew and maintaining service excellence in a dynamic maritime environment. The AHM must be present and active during meal services, supervise housekeeping and guest services, assist with operations from bar inventory to event management, and ensure impeccable cleanliness and organization throughout the ship. They act as a critical link between hotel management and crew, responsible for performance assessments, disciplinary actions, and fostering positive work environments that promote employee retention.
Working onboard a vessel that experiences six distinct motions due to wind, waves, and currents demands physical resilience and adaptability. The Assistant Hotel Manager is expected to work long shifts averaging around 12 hours, manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, and participate actively in emergency procedures when needed. The role also involves preparing for ship turnover and handoff duties, managing business transactions and compliance reporting, and supporting sales goals.
