Job Description
Our company is a well-established full-service BBQ restaurant known for its dedication to delivering authentic and high-quality barbecue dishes in a warm and inviting atmosphere. We have carved out a niche in the culinary landscape by blending traditional cooking methods with contemporary flavors, making each dining experience exceptional. As a full-service restaurant, we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service, ambiance, and an extensive menu designed to satisfy a broad range of tastes and preferences. Our establishment continually strives to uphold food safety standards and promote a positive workplace culture focused on teamwork, professionalism, and growth.
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Assistant Head Chef/Kitchen Manager to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers a competitive starting wage from $23.00 per hour, complemented with comprehensive benefits, including dental, health, and vision insurance. The expected working hours range from 35 to 45 hours per week, with a schedule designed to cover peak service times, including afternoons, evenings, and weekends. The ideal candidate will take on a leadership role within our kitchen, assisting the Head Chef in all culinary operations and kitchen management responsibilities to ensure smooth and efficient food preparation and service.
The Assistant Head Chef/Kitchen Manager will play a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality, safety, and presentation. Responsibilities span from stepping into the Chef’s role in their absence, expediting orders for accuracy and quality, to overseeing food runners and ensuring allergy-sensitive dishes are handled with the utmost care. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fostering a safe and organized work environment that adheres strictly to Massachusetts food safety laws. They will assist with daily kitchen prep, event order reviews, inventory management, and training kitchen staff, serving as a mentor and leader who empowers team members to excel.
In addition to managing kitchen operations during their shifts, the Assistant Head Chef/Kitchen Manager will support ordering and vendor relations to maintain budget compliance and operational efficiency. Outstanding communication and organizational skills are essential, as the role involves close collaboration with both kitchen and front-of-house teams to deliver top-tier dining experiences. This position requires physical stamina, including the ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 pounds in a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old and fluent in Spanish, as this is a requirement to facilitate clear communication within our diverse team. Although there is no formal education requirement, practical experience in traditional or BBQ restaurant kitchens and skill proficiency across various kitchen stations such as grill, fry, salad, and expo is crucial. Certification as a Serve Safe Food Preparation Manager is required within two weeks of starting the role. We value punctuality, proactivity, and a positive attitude, as this role sets the standard for teamwork and excellence throughout the kitchen staff. This is a rewarding opportunity for those passionate about culinary excellence and eager to take on a leadership position in a respected BBQ restaurant environment.
