Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Minimum of one year general merchandise experience
  • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs regularly
  • Physical ability to perform bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walking
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess technical skills for basic math and computer tasks
  • Ability to communicate professionally with management and subordinates
  • Ability to work in a controlled and efficient manner
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Leadership skills, maturity, and technical competencies
  • Ability to operate ordering and stocking equipment
  • Flexibility to work various shifts including weekends and holidays

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Acknowledge, greet, and engage guests entering the department
  • Assist with interviewing, training, scheduling, performance, and productivity of department team members
  • Communicate information distribution to the entire General Merchandise department
  • Maintain positive atmosphere, spirit, and morale within the department
  • Demonstrate effective leadership skills by managing time and delegation
  • Support and execute division concepts and programs
  • Contribute in executing and meeting financial goals
  • Attend to guest needs promptly, directing or escorting them to items
  • Monitor guest flow and adapt to changing demands
  • Ensure quality and consistent product availability
  • Safeguard, control, and monitor all department assets
  • Practice safe work habits and maintain store cleanliness and safety
  • Ensure department systems and processes are used correctly
  • Collaborate with Department Manager for planning production and promotion goals
  • Coach and develop team members according to company policies
  • Coordinate updating of department books and manuals
  • Assist with inventory process and reporting
  • Manage department issues in Manager’s absence including ordering, delegation, multitasking, forecasting, and merchandising
  • Adhere to food safety procedures
  • Maintain stock levels and proper rotation of merchandise
  • Ensure merchandise tags are properly placed and in good condition
