The role of Assistant General Manager at Merete is a pivotal position designed to support the General Manager in the strategic and operational aspects of hotel management. Job Requirements

  • Must pass criminal background check
  • Valid driver license with acceptable DMV record for employer's insurance policy
  • Ability to manage according to employment laws
  • Ability to plan and organize work of others
  • Ability to adjust schedule changes and cover shifts on short notice
  • Able to work a variety of hours and shifts
  • Effective time management including planning, prioritizing, delegating, and directing
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with associates, guests and management
  • Follow all policies and constantly strive to improve operations
  • Ensure prompt and courteous service
  • Meet or exceed productivity standards
  • Ability to communicate with guests and team members
  • Follow all safety procedures

Job Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor's degree in hospitality management or business or 3 years of experience in hospitality industry with at least 1 year in a supervisory role
  • Basic accounting knowledge including P&L statements, labor and cost control
  • Prior cash handling experience
  • Prior customer service experience
  • Experience working with computers and operating keyboards

Job Duties

  • Assist the hotel GM in developing short- and long-term operating plans
  • Ensure compliance with hotel's policies and procedures
  • Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics to inspire team members
  • Investigate and resolve guest quality and service complaints
  • Select, train, supervise, develop, schedule, discipline, and counsel team members
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Monitor payroll hours and reports
  • Assign duties and inspect work
  • Apply company handbook and employment laws fairly
  • Coordinate repair and maintenance programs with GM and Maintenance
  • Maintain lost and found log
  • Complete required reports and paperwork such as forecasts and budgets
  • Schedule and conduct departmental meetings
  • Report unsafe conditions immediately
  • Complete all other duties assigned by hotel GM
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Promote respect, positivity and teamwork at all times
