We are seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Assistant General Manager who is passionate about fitness and the lifestyle it promotes. This role is pivotal in partnering with the General Manager to oversee all aspects of daily operations at a Gold's Gym location. The Assistant General Manager plays an essential role in managing hiring, training, developing, and engaging both team members and customers to deliver an exceptional fitness experience.
The Assistant General Manager is a key leadership position responsible for driving club operations, managing profit and loss, and ensuring the overall success of the gym. This includes overseeing membership growth, labor management, retail inventory, concessions, repairs and maintenance (R&M), and general operational standards. In addition, the role involves serving as an ambassador for the gym's brand, actively promoting its social media presence and collaborating with the Marketing Department to maximize visibility across digital platforms.
Fitness expertise is central to this role; the Assistant General Manager will manage the fitness staff, including personal trainers and group fitness instructors, ensuring the delivery of a unique and engaging fitness experience. Responsibilities include hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training certification management, and quality assurance of coaching services. Engaging with members directly on the gym floor, greeting guests, and providing fitness guidance are key components of the position.
Member experience is a top priority—ensuring the team delivers outstanding service and creating a welcoming environment for all gym members. The Assistant General Manager leads by example, providing charismatic and motivational leadership, and making effective decisions that enhance the workout experience. Monitoring and responding to member feedback, whether through Google Reviews, social media, or guest surveys, also falls under this role.
The successful candidate must be a skilled multi-tasker, able to perform under pressure while managing various internal and external requests. Day-to-day duties include walking the gym floor to engage members, reviewing team member performance, and ensuring compliance with safety and maintenance standards through regular audits.
Other responsibilities include participating in community engagement initiatives, maintaining operational efficiency, and serving as a brand ambassador. Ensuring the facility remains clean, safe, and fully operational is critical, along with organizing equipment inspections and mitigating any safety hazards. This role demands flexibility, reliability, excellent communication skills, and a customer-centric approach to leadership.

Job Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience, preferably in the fitness or hospitality-related industry
- Prior experience in personal training or management of personal trainers highly preferred
- Strong understanding of operations and performance metrics including profit and loss, budgeting, inventory, employee relations and labor management, facilities maintenance
- Ability to collaborate with third-party vendors and internal support teams for gym operations and maintenance
- Knowledge of Gold's Gym products and target customers
- Ability to share performance updates including wins, learnings, and opportunities for improvement
- Flexibility to handle communication needs outside typical business hours
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills
- Customer-centric mentality and commitment to excellence

Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of management experience, preferably in fitness or hospitality
