This position is for an Assistant General Manager who will play a critical role in the successful opening and ongoing operations of the Residence Inn Wilmington. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this seasoned leader will oversee all facets of the hotel’s operations to ensure revenue and profit targets are achieved while maintaining elevated product and service standards. The Assistant General Manager is expected to foster a work environment centered on superior guest satisfaction, employee engagement, and efficient asset management. With responsibilities spanning guest services, marketing and sales management, profit management, human resources, safety and security, and asset management, this role demands a dynamic hospitality professional capable of multitasking and problem-solving in a fast-paced setting.
The Assistant General Manager will be instrumental in establishing marketing strategies aligned with segmented demand and competitive environments, driving campaigns to maximize occupancy and revenue, especially during low periods. They will maintain financial accuracy through forecasting and budget preparation, employing data-driven analyses to make business adjustments proactively. Leading the recruitment, development, and retention of a motivated team, they will ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations while mentoring staff to aspire to leadership roles. The role also involves direct oversight of safety programs and property quality assurance initiatives to uphold Marriott’s brand standards.

Job Requirements
- bachelor’s degree in hospitality, accounting or business
- 2+ years hotel experience in operations, food and beverage or administrative
- ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and correspondence
- effective communication skills with employees, guests and supervisors
- ability to perform mathematical calculations
- detail oriented and organized
- ability to solve practical problems
- maintain strict confidentiality
- ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
- physically able to stand, walk, use hands, talk and hear
- occasionally lift up to 50 pounds
- obtain ServSafe and RAMP certificates upon hiring
Job Qualifications
- 2+ years hotel experience in operations, food and beverage or administrative (Marriott experience a plus)
- bachelor’s degree in hospitality, accounting or business
- ability to read and speak English

Job Duties
- maintain guest service as the driving philosophy of the hotel
- respond personally to guests' needs
- ensure hotel staff know and understand the importance of guest satisfaction and are trained to meet service standards
- develop and implement marketing and action plans to maximize revenue per available room
- coordinate advertising, public relations, and promotional programs
- meet or exceed budgeted profit margin
- accurately forecast revenues and expenses
- manage human resources functions including recruiting, selection, and training
- maintain a positive work environment
- maintain physical product standards with preventive maintenance programs
- ensure compliance with local health and safety codes and regulations
- manage and direct all aspects of hotel operations in accordance with brand standards
