The Assistant General Manager (AGM) position at Hardee's offers an exciting opportunity to join the leadership team in one of the restaurant’s fast-paced locations. This role is pivotal in supporting the General Manager (GM) with daily restaurant operations, including food preparation, customer service, maintenance, and financial management. The AGM acts as a role model who embodies CKE's core values while assisting in cultivating a motivated, high-performing team. Emphasizing top-tier customer experiences, the AGM ensures compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements to maintain a safe, clean, and efficient restaurant.

Key responsibilities involve providing hands-on leadership, actively engaging in employee selection, training, and performance coaching using established tools and processes. The AGM works closely with human resources to resolve employee relations issues and foster a compliant and positive work environment. This leadership role requires overseeing all shifts to ensure smooth restaurant operations across all meal periods—including breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, and weekends—while maintaining rigorous food safety and sanitation standards.

In addition to operational oversight, the AGM assists with scheduling, inventory management, and financial analyses to drive profitability and sales growth. Effective communication across internal teams and external stakeholders is vital for success in this position. The AGM supports marketing and promotional activities and takes initiative beyond routine responsibilities to help keep the restaurant in optimal condition.

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including nights and weekends, and may occasionally involve travel to assist with other restaurant locations or business meetings. Candidates should expect to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment that demands constant movement, physical stamina, and the ability to lift and handle kitchen equipment safely. The role emphasizes accountability, execution excellence, and developing talent to enhance team engagement and operational success at Hardee's.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • minimum of one year experience in restaurant operations or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • proficient working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • ability to work flexible schedule including days, nights, and weekends
  • may be required to travel to other locations
  • effective communication skills
  • ability to lift 20 pounds repetitively and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • ability to stand and walk for extended periods
  • capability to work in fast-paced, warm kitchen environments
  • knowledge of food safety standards
  • ability to use cleaning products safely

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Demonstrate CKE's core values while assisting the GM in building high performing employees when selecting, training, retaining, and recognizing top talent utilizing applicable tools and processes
  • execute the Performance Management process consistently to ensure employees are set up for success and held accountable
  • partner with the GM and Human Resources to ensure resolution to all employee relations activities and maintain compliance with federal, state, and local requirements
  • actively monitor, demonstrate, and provide training on all job duties of each position for any shift throughout the restaurant including customer service, food preparation, cleaning, and stocking
  • ensure proper supervision of restaurant through ongoing examination of station and customer activities
  • work assigned schedule to ensure that all day parts are being observed such as breakfast, lunch, dinner, late night, and weekends
  • drive customer-focused culture by serving as a role model in resolving customer issues and partnering with the GM to train employees to meet or exceed customer service standards
  • coach, drive excellence, and recognize and assist the GM in holding all shifts accountable around core operational procedures using company systems
  • assist the GM in creating schedules and completing inventory orders, completing these tasks when the GM is absent or on vacation
  • ensure that food safety standards are met through direct observation while running shifts or when present in the restaurant
  • partner with the GM to ensure that restaurant level plan and marketing initiatives are in place and being implemented
  • partner with the GM to analyze sales, labor, inventory, and controllables on a continual basis and take specific corrective action to meet or achieve margin and sales growth targets
  • communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external contacts including team members, guests, vendors, visitors
  • take the initiative, in addition to providing excellent customer service, to perform other duties as needed to keep the restaurant clean, safe, and operating efficiently
