Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a well-established restaurant brand that began its journey in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Founded by two Louisiana State University walk-on basketball players, the establishment embodies the spirit of hard work, resilience, and teamwork. What started as a single location has grown into a nationally recognized brand, known not only for its scratch-made dishes infused with Louisiana flavor but also for its welcoming, game-day atmosphere. Walk-On's focuses on building a vibrant culture where every team member feels valued like family, fostering an environment where passion, energy, and pride are fundamental ingredients in delivering exceptional guest experiences. The company is deeply committed to its core values, which include teamwork, hospitality, passion, growth, and community. These values shape the overall dining experience and the workplace, ensuring that the journey from kitchen to table is memorable for every guest and rewarding for every employee.
The Assistant General Manager (AGM) role at Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a critical leadership position that supports the General Manager in all facets of restaurant operations. This full-time, exempt role requires a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable managing both Front of House (FOH) and Back of House (BOH) operations. The AGM is responsible for upholding the Walk-On's standards of excellence in guest service, team leadership, and financial performance. As a pivotal member of the management team, the Assistant General Manager takes on daily operational leadership, stepping in to manage the restaurant’s day-to-day activities, coaching and mentoring team members, and ensuring a consistent, high-quality guest experience. The AGM partners closely with the General Manager to monitor and control labor, food, and operational costs to meet profitability goals, while also assisting in business planning and performance management.
In this role, the Assistant General Manager is expected to play an active part in maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to labor, health, and safety. The position involves enforcing company policies regarding cash handling, food safety, and equipment upkeep, ensuring the restaurant operates smoothly and safely. The AGM also contributes to recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff, fostering a positive team environment that aligns with Walk-On’s vibrant company culture. The role demands excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills, as well as flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Physical stamina is required to handle lifting, standing for extended periods, and managing a fast-paced restaurant environment.
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux values diversity and inclusion, is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and supports an inclusive workplace where all employees can thrive. The AGM position is not just about maintaining operations but about leading with energy, accountability, and heart, ensuring every guest receives outstanding food, service, and hospitality. Joining Walk-On’s means becoming part of a winning culture that celebrates successes as a team, embraces challenges with resilience, and provides growth opportunities for all its team members.
