Job Description
Cooper's Hawk is a premier lifestyle brand that combines a Napa-style tasting room, wine-inspired retail, and a full-service restaurant, bar, and private event spaces to deliver a modern yet casual dining experience. Since its inception in 2005, Cooper's Hawk has been dedicated to providing guests with an exceptional blend of handcrafted wines paired with scratch-kitchen menu items designed to complement their award-winning wines. The establishment is well-known for its expansive Wine Club, which is considered one of the largest in the world. This club offers members exclusive benefits, including curated dining and travel experiences, enhancing the connection between fine dining and premium wines. The company also extends its culinary reach with Piccolo Buco by Cooper's Hawk, bringing the vibrant flavors of Rome to its patrons, further diversifying its offerings and setting new standards for a lifestyle brand in the hospitality industry.
As an Assistant Executive Kitchen Manager (AEKM) at Cooper's Hawk, you will play a pivotal role in leading a high-volume scratch kitchen where culinary creativity and operational excellence converge. The role involves partnering closely with the Executive Kitchen Manager to uphold the highest standards of food quality, consistency, and safety while coaching and inspiring kitchen teams. This full-time position offers a competitive salary range between $70,000 and $83,000 per year, complemented by a 10% bonus potential, reflecting the importance of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity in determining compensation.
In this leadership capacity, the AEKM is responsible for overseeing kitchen operations, including managing kitchen managers and team members across various stations such as dish, prep, and line. You will ensure effective communication and collaboration between kitchen and front-of-house operations to maintain seamless service. Your duties will include conducting line checks, preparing prep lists, managing inventory and supply orders, and upholding food safety standards to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. A key aspect of this role is coaching and mentoring to develop kitchen leadership and team members, fostering a positive and professional kitchen culture that emphasizes culinary standards and operational excellence.
The role also involves participation in hiring, especially for hourly kitchen team members, and conducting side-by-side coaching sessions to support ongoing development and performance optimization. Financial acumen is required to assist with weekly inventory procedures and to maximize financial results, supporting the restaurant's growth and profitability. Additionally, the AEKM will execute private events, including themed Wine Club dinners, contributing to an elevated guest experience. This position demands a proactive approach, requiring the ability to handle physical tasks such as lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for extended periods, along with the flexibility to work 50-60 hours per week, including weekends and some holidays.
Cooper's Hawk values genuine leadership, teamwork, and personalized guest experiences. The Assistant Executive Kitchen Manager will embody these values, representing the company by fostering respect, positivity, and professionalism within the kitchen. This role offers numerous benefits including significant dining and retail discounts, comprehensive medical and wellness plans, 401(k) with company match, paid parental leave, and career development opportunities among others. Cooper's Hawk is an equal opportunity employer committed to providing reasonable accommodations and fostering an inclusive workplace for all qualified applicants.
