The Westin Irving Convention Center at Las Colinas is a premium hospitality venue located in Irving, Texas. The Event Manager role at The Westin Irving Convention Center is an integral position within the Event Management team, focused on ensuring the seamless execution of banquets and event services. This full-time management position involves coordinating all aspects of event operations, including communication with culinary and steward teams, verifying event setups, inspecting service quality of china, glassware, and silver, and managing guest satisfaction through direct interaction. The role demands attention to detail and effective leadership skills to oversee daily event functions, ensure compliance with brand standards, run staff meetings, manage inventories, and assist in financial and administrative tasks.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • minimum 2 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related field
  • experience leading a shift and managing staff
  • knowledge of OSHA regulations and compliance
  • ability to work full-time onsite at The Westin Irving Convention Center in Irving, Texas
  • strong communication and organizational skills

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED or 2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major
  • 2 years experience in food and beverage, culinary, guest services, front desk, housekeeping, or related field

Job Duties

  • Communicates service needs to chefs and stewards throughout functions
  • totals charges for group functions and prepares and presents checks to group contacts
  • verifies banquet rooms, restaurants, and coffee breaks are ready for service
  • inspects cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use
  • checks in with guests to verify satisfaction
  • sets tables according to type of event and service standards
  • communicates additional meal requirements, allergies, dietary needs, and special requests to the kitchen
  • maintains cleanliness of work areas
  • supports compliance with brand standards and legal obligations
  • leads shift teams to provide consistent, high quality service
  • coordinates and leads daily stand-up meetings, pre-shift meetings and pre and post-meal briefings
  • communicates performance expectations and trains staff in processes
  • assists senior managers with financial and administrative duties
  • manages departmental inventories and assets
  • schedules banquet and event service staff
  • orders supplies
  • utilizes banquet beverage tools to manage liquor costs
  • practices and executes brand-specific meeting service programs
  • works with Event Planning and Event Technology teams to ensure flawless delivery
