The role of Assistant Director of Rooms at Four Seasons Hotel New York Downtown is a pivotal leadership position managing critical aspects of the guest experience and operational efficiency within the Rooms Division. Job Requirements
- College degree preferred
- 3-4 years of luxury hotel experience in Rooms Division
- Ability to read, write and speak English
- Minimal travel required to provide assistance to other Four Seasons Hotels
- Willingness to work flexible hours to meet objectives without overtime pay
- Strong organizational and strategic planning abilities
- Capacity to supervise up to 15 employees directly and 30 indirectly
- Commitment to Four Seasons’ standards and values
- Ability to respond swiftly in emergency situations

Job Duties
- Oversees the Department Heads in Front Desk, Guest Services, CORE, Guest Relations/Concierge/Door/Bell and Housekeeping
- Ensures thorough communication and follow-up on any problems, guest or employee requests or special requirements, and hotel initiatives
- Interviews candidates for available positions in Rooms Division
- Trains new hire employees and onboards staff
- Conducts performance evaluations and disciplines staff when needed
- Reviews and monitors schedules in all departments of the Rooms Division ensuring alignment with labor standards and hotel performance
- Monitors activities to assure standards are met, staff is supported and guest needs are fulfilled
- Inspects daily all areas of responsibility
- Resolves customer complaints from all areas of the hotel with highest hospitality and professionalism
- Assists customers with inquiries about hotel services, operations, personnel, events and directions
- Responds to guest requests accurately and timely
- Assures that financial goals are being met
- Monitors and controls labor expense and supplies/equipment expenses
- Works closely with Reservations, Sales and Front Office to maximize rate, occupancy and revenue
- Supports Planning Committee in budget preparation and monthly P&L review
- Takes action on matters related to safety, security, satisfaction and well-being of guests and employees when senior managers are not available
- Responds swiftly to hotel emergencies or safety situations
- Collaborates with Director of Engineering to ensure maintenance of property and guest rooms
- Conducts daily standard tests and inspections
- Collaborates with Director of Revenue to manage inventory and resolve issues
- Participates in daily Rooms Division briefings
- Collaborates with Learning and Development manager to support training and standard compliance
- Complies with Four Seasons’ Work Rules and Standards of Conduct
- Works professionally with coworkers and supervisors
