Job Description

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants is a boutique hotel brand known for its personalized and heartfelt approach to hospitality. Founded in 1981 in San Francisco by Bill Kimpton, the company revolutionized the hospitality industry by rejecting impersonal service and rigid standards. Instead, Kimpton fostered an environment where genuine human connections and vibrant individuality are encouraged and celebrated. The company’s culture is lively, rebellious, and inclusive, welcoming employees from diverse backgrounds and experiences who are passionate about creativity, self-leadership, and making positive impacts through their work. This focus on heartfelt connections extends beyond employees to guests, owners, and the wider community, creating a unique and empowering workplace that is as exceptional as the service Kimpton is known for. Working at Kimpton means you are part of a team driven by meaningful purpose—improving lives daily and offering a place where people can truly be themselves and shine.

The role now available is that of an Assistant General Manager (Food & Beverage) working closely with the Director of Food & Beverage to contribute to the strategic development and operational success of the hotel’s restaurants. This is a full-time position demanding a dynamic, enthusiastic individual capable of leadership and operational management to achieve company goals. Responsibilities include attending property meetings, developing and leading managers, supporting sales and public relations strategies, assisting chefs with menu development, coordinating staff training and communication, and leading special event planning and execution both on and off property. The Assistant General Manager will also ensure compliance with training requirements, assist with various projects, and play a key role in hiring, coaching, performance appraisal, and resolving employee or guest concerns. Collaboration is essential as this role interfaces with teams across restaurant, room service, bar, and banquet functions. The applicant should have proven food and beverage management experience, strong leadership skills, and a knack for handling complex situations with integrity and tact. Proficiency in budgeting, expense control, payroll, inventory, and marketing is also necessary, alongside solid computer skills and familiarity with relevant hospitality management systems. This position offers an opportunity to grow within a brand that values individuality and diversity and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment where differences truly make a difference.
