This role is for an Accounting Supervisor at one of the InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties. The position involves assisting in the oversight of the hotel’s accounting operations, reporting directly to the Complex Director of Finance. The Accounting Supervisor ensures that all financial functions are performed accurately, timely, and in compliance with the hotel’s standards. This role requires coordination and communication with various hotel departments, as well as external contacts, such as auditors, vendors, and regulatory agencies. As a key financial contact on site, the Accounting Supervisor is responsible for supervising clerical and professional accounting employees across functions such as accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit and collections, payroll, purchasing, audit, and accounting operations.

The Accounting Supervisor plays a critical role in managing revenues, ensuring financial controls, preparing financial reports, and compliance audits. In addition, the role involves troubleshooting accounting issues, supporting month-end processes, conducting financial analyses to guide business decisions, and promoting teamwork and quality service within the hotel. This position is offered on a full-time basis, with a competitive salary range from $72,000 to $124,000 annually, complemented by eligibility for bonus pay and a comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, and a 401k plan. The job may require flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays to meet operational needs. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent
  • 2+ years in hotel accounting or audit in a supervisory role or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Fluent English
  • Ability to carry or lift items weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Technical accounting competency
  • Mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss analysis
  • Strong problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training skills
  • Reading and writing financial reports
  • Availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or equivalent
  • 2+ years in hotel accounting or audit with supervisory experience
  • Fluent English communication skills
  • Technical accounting competency
  • Mathematical skills including basic math, budgeting, profit and loss concepts, percentages, and variances
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training abilities
  • Ability to read and write financial analyses, budgets, and related reports
  • Experience in preparing financial reports and documentation
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required

Job Duties

  • Assist in the management of day-to-day operations and assignments of accounting staff, plan and organize work, communicate goals, and schedule or assign work
  • Advise staff of formal policies and procedures, identify options and resolve issues
  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments
  • Assist in managing revenues received and dispersed including accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, audit, General Ledger reporting, and cash handling functions
  • Work with Complex Director of Finance and the BCS team in preparing month end journal entries, producing and reviewing month end reporting
  • Assist in the preparation of month end financial evaluations for IHG and hotel ownership
  • Prepare financial analyses of hotel operations including variance explanation and make recommendations to ensure the achievement of business goals
  • Develop and implement financial control procedures and systems, maintain documents for audits of hotel accounts, ensure compliance with IHG compliance standards, government regulations, federal, state and local laws
  • Respond quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner
  • Follow up to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Work with other management personnel to establish and implement hotel service standards
  • Assist with the distribution of forecast information for operating departments
  • Troubleshoot accounting problems as required
  • Interact with outside contacts including guests, vendors, hotel legal counsel, auditors, offsite accounting staff, regulatory agencies, and other contacts as needed
  • May assist with other duties as assigned including assisting staff with their job functions
