The Catering Director position at Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center is a full-time management role offering a competitive annual salary range of $108,000 to $145,000, with bonus eligibility. This leadership role is pivotal in directing and managing all functions within the catering department, ensuring smooth operations and excellence in service delivery. The successful candidate will oversee the Executive Meeting Services and Catering Management teams, guiding their daily activities and performance to meet the highest standards. This role collaborates closely with the Director of Catering to prepare budgets, forecast revenues, and develop annual business plans that align with overall company objectives.
In addition to administrative oversight, the Catering Director is responsible for planning and executing complex group events, ensuring that client specifications and contractual obligations are clearly communicated and faithfully executed by operational departments. The role involves managing the Banquet Event Order (BEO) process, maintaining change logs, and distributing daily information reports to keep all stakeholders informed. A strong focus on customer satisfaction drives this position, with regular client interaction to capture objectives and requirements for various events like meetings, conferences, and conventions.
The Catering Director also plays a strategic role in marketing, partnering with the Director of Catering to develop sales promotions and marketing plans that support business growth. Training and compliance management are part of this role, including establishing training curriculums and monitoring manager adherence. A key responsibility is to conduct daily walk-throughs of banquet floors to verify client satisfaction and uphold quality standards.
Human resources activities, such as interviewing, selecting, training employees, conducting performance appraisals, and managing attendance and employee safety, are integral to this role. The Catering Director fosters a positive work environment that encourages development, efficiency, and security for the team.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- 7 years’ experience in catering management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
- or Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major
- 4 years’ experience in catering management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area
- Strong leadership abilities
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to manage budgets and forecasts
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED with 7 years’ experience in catering management, food and beverage, sales and marketing or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or related major with 4 years’ relevant experience
- Experience in managing budgets and business plans
- Strong leadership and team management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Knowledge of event planning and execution
Job Duties
- Directs and manages all catering department functions including sales and executive meetings
