The Food and Nutrition Department at Memorial Healthcare System plays a critical role in supporting patient care by ensuring that clinical nutrition, patient services, and culinary operations are aligned with regulatory standards and the organization’s mission. The department is committed to providing outstanding nutritional care which contributes significantly to patients' recovery and health outcomes.
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Director to oversee the functional activities and resources of the Food and Nutrition Department. This leadership role involves managing multiple facets of the department, from ensuring compliance with regulatory policies within clinical nutrition and culinary areas to implementing and overseeing performance improvement initiatives. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the comprehensive management of staffing, including recruitment, orientation, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions.
The successful candidate will exhibit strong leadership in developing and implementing operational goals and policies that comply with administrative, legal, and ethical requirements. This role also requires strategic financial management capabilities, contributing to budget planning and cost-saving initiatives, ensuring the department operates efficiently and effectively. In the absence of the Director, the Assistant Director will assume full departmental oversight, showcasing the importance and seniority of this position.
The incumbent must possess critical thinking skills, effective communication abilities, and decisive judgment. The role demands excellent time management and the capability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-stress environment. A background of at least two years in clinical nutrition or food service, preferably with healthcare management experience, is essential. Candidates must also hold a master's degree as a minimum educational qualification, alongside certified credentials such as the Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian Certification (CDR).

Job Requirements
- Masters degree required
- Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian (RD) certification
- Minimum two years clinical nutrition or food service experience
- Healthcare management experience preferred
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Effective communication skills
- Critical thinking and decisive judgment
- Ability to perform physical activities such as bending, stooping, climbing
- Willingness to work in a stressful healthcare environment
- Compliance with post offer, pre-placement assessment and drug testing
Job Qualifications
- Masters degree

Job Duties
- Ensure clinical nutrition, patient services and culinary areas comply with regulatory standards and policies
- Oversee department performance improvement planning and data analysis
- Manage complaint resolution to meet quality control objectives
- Plan, hire, orient, evaluate, and discipline staff within the department
- Develop and implement department operational goals and policies
- Analyze production services and clinical systems for decision support
- Assist in maintaining the department's operational, strategic and capital budgets
- Pursue and implement cost-saving initiatives
- Provide complete departmental oversight in the Director's absence
