The Assistant Deli/Seafood Manager position at Dierbergs offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about culinary arts and customer service within an entry-level management role. This position plays a critical part in the daily operations of the Deli and Seafood departments, ensuring that these areas operate efficiently while maintaining top-notch quality, safety, and service standards. As part of the management team, the Assistant Manager will collaborate closely with the Deli/Seafood Manager to oversee food preparation, inventory control, associate training, and sanitation protocols. Candidates will be responsible for preparing and selling signature deli foods, including rotisserie and smoked meats, sliced cheeses, and various varieties of seafood, all while providing knowledgeable and friendly service to customers.

The role demands a keen eye for detail, leadership skills to motivate and develop team members, and a strong commitment to food safety. Flexibility in scheduling is required, with the expectation of evening and weekend shifts, though Dierbergs offers a balanced work-life schedule with shifts that typically end by 8 pm. Job Requirements

  • Ability to push and pull up to 20 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally and up to 20 lbs frequently
  • Ability to sit and climb occasionally
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, squatting, and handling
  • Frequent head turn, trunk bend, side reach, grasp, power grip, pinch, finger manipulation, and feel
  • Constant standing, handling, and forward reach

Job Qualifications

  • 1+ years of food-service experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity demonstrating ability to deliver exceptional customer service and manage a team
  • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent qualification
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment exhibiting strong multitasking abilities and adaptability
  • Basic computer skills with ability to use iPad for customer orders, order pick up, and training
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling and sanitation procedures to maintain safety and quality
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and varying shifts allowing for work-life balance

Job Duties

  • Collaborate with the Deli/Seafood Management Team to uphold high standards of quality, consistency, and profitability in all food products
  • Oversee the training, development, and motivation of Associates to foster a cohesive and high-performing environment
  • Prepare and sell signature foods including rotisserie and smoked meats, sliced cheeses, and many varieties of seafood
  • Manage ordering and inventory to ensure adequate stock levels
  • Maintain a clean and sanitary department following proper food-handling procedures and food safety standards
  • Provide friendly and knowledgeable service to every customer
