The Culinary Services Assistant Director role at Benedictine is critical in supporting the mission to provide exceptional dining experiences for residents. Reporting to the Director of Culinary Services, this position involves managing various aspects of the culinary department to ensure residents receive nutritious and enjoyable meals tailored to their dietary needs. The Assistant Director plays a hands-on role in the kitchen and dining areas, stepping in whenever necessary to maintain smooth operations. This role demands strong leadership skills to select, train, and develop culinary staff, fostering a motivated and professional workforce. Coordinating educational meetings and collaborating closely with registered dietitians and the culinary director for menu planning are essential components, ensuring meals meet nutritional and therapeutic requirements. The Assistant Director is also responsible for procurement, working with approved vendors to order food and kitchen supplies efficiently. Job Requirements

- Experience in large scale food production
- Strong desire to work with the elderly
- Certification in food safety sanitation preferred
- Ability to collaborate effectively with dietary and culinary teams
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Capacity to work flexible hours as needed

Job Duties
- Manage the selection, training, development, and performance of assigned culinary staff
- Plan, coordinate, and conduct educational meetings for departmental staff
- Collaborate with the Dietitian and Director of Culinary Services regarding menu planning to meet nutritional and therapeutic needs
- Fill in as needed in the kitchen and dining area to ensure smooth operations
- Order food and kitchen supplies and coordinate with approved vendors
- Maintain compliance with food safety and sanitation standards
- Support the Director of Culinary Services in daily culinary management tasks
