Job Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year hotel or restaurant work experience
  • Basic cooking knowledge
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to learn quickly
  • Effective oral communication skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and build relationships
  • Ability to follow all safety standards including chemical usage, food handling, preparation and storage
  • Keep up to date with and follow all sanitation standards
  • Possess basic knowledge in all areas of cooking fundamentals including sauteing, soup and sauce making, broiling, frying, cold preparation, plating, basic butchering and baking
  • Familiarity with all types of foods including meats, seafoods and produce and ability to inspect and ensure quality
  • Ability to follow directions and instructions and learn from others
  • Able to effectively manage time and work under pressure
  • Must be able to adhere to proper food temperatures for all foods hot and cold, food holding and cooking
  • Knowledge of operating all kitchen equipment and manual dexterity to operate kitchen tools
  • Basic mathematical skills necessary for recipes, measurements, and portion sizes
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to grasp, lift or move goods weighing up to 200 pounds
  • Ability to perform duties in confined spaces
  • Able to stand for long periods
  • Ability to work in extreme temperature ranges
  • Ability to move quickly while standing, bending or twisting
  • Strong ability to work well with others in a diverse workforce

Job Duties

  • Assist in preparation, cooking, and serving of food
  • Handle short order station and perform basic tasks
  • Check and control proper storage of products and portion control
  • Maintain cleanliness of refrigeration, storage, and working areas
  • Inspect and use freshest food products
  • Prepare requisitions for supplies and food items
  • Perform general cleaning tasks and keep floors dry to avoid slip accidents
  • Assist kitchen personnel in operating various kitchen stations
  • Work closely with front of the house staff, kitchen personnel, and stewards
  • Perform duties at varying stations such as carving, grilling, action stations, plating
