The district's food service program plays a crucial role in supporting student health by providing nutritious and appealing meal options in a safe and welcoming environment. The organization values diversity, equity, and cultural responsiveness, ensuring that all staff members contribute to an inclusive school culture.
The Assistant Cook position within the Eau Claire Area School District is a part-time role essential to the smooth operation of the district's food service department. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $15.95 to $20.30 with a 0.56250 full-time equivalent (FTE) schedule, providing flexibility for individuals seeking part-time employment. The role is ideal for motivated individuals with a passion for food preparation, safety, and customer service.
As an Assistant Cook, the individual will be responsible for various tasks related to food production, service, and clean-up during the lunch meal period. The role also involves assisting in preparing, counting, packaging, and labeling foods that are sent to satellite kitchens, supporting operational efficiency across multiple sites. The Assistant Cook must maintain a clean and safe work environment by adhering to established food safety guidelines, including proper food preparation, holding, and display techniques.
In addition to hands-on food preparation, the Assistant Cook contributes to the overall dining experience by ensuring that food is handled with care and meets quality standards. Candidates must possess a current ServSafe Certification or Wisconsin Food Manager Certification or be committed to obtaining this during the probation period. The district also prioritizes equitable and culturally responsive practices, emphasizing the importance of working respectfully and inclusively within a diverse school environment.
