Embracing the Hawaiian values of aloha (compassion), pono (righteousness), and kuleana (responsibility), HPU nurtures a culture of mutual trust, respect, innovation, collaboration, and intellectual fellowship. The university offers resources and rewards that correspond to individual contributions and potential, making it a dynamic and supportive community for professional and academic excellence.
HPU provides a comprehensive benefits package and competitive compensation, focused on the health, wellness, and future security of its employees. Benefits include a robust health insurance plan, life and disability insurance, generous paid leave schedules, tuition waivers for employees and their families, and retirement savings plans. Employees also enjoy various discounts and opportunities for professional development in a setting that values collegiality and community spirit.
The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Events (AADFE) is a full-time, on-site role based at St. Francis in downtown Honolulu. This pivotal position is responsible for managing all athletics events in compliance with NCAA and PacWest conference policies, ensuring smooth and professional game-day operations. The AADFE collaborates closely with the Sports Information Director, coaches, HPU Facilities staff, and visiting teams to prepare venues, support event logistics, and oversee event execution both on and off campus. The role demands a high degree of organization, multi-tasking, and the capability to manage details under pressure while maintaining an energetic and professional demeanor.
In addition to event management, the AADFE spearheads the Athletics Department’s fundraising efforts. This includes planning and organizing annual department-wide fundraising events as well as team-specific fundraising campaigns. The role involves meticulous documentation and management of donations, including cash, checks, and electronic payments, ensuring proper coding, timely deposits, and financial compliance. The position requires strong communication skills to foster synergy within the department, particularly between the Athletics Director and various teams. The ideal candidate brings innovative fundraising ideas and enthusiasm to the athletics programs, helping to expand HPU’s reach and resources.
The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Events role also includes other assigned duties supporting the athletic department during peak seasons and special events, which require flexibility and dedication. The university values dependable professionals who exhibit excellent time and stress management capabilities, maintain consistent attendance, and foster harmonious working relationships within the team.
This role requires a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and at least two years of experience in an athletics environment, including event management. Candidates with a Master’s degree, demonstrated fundraising success, knowledge of NCAA Division II rules, and a strong commitment to policy compliance are highly desirable. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States and capable of working varied shifts including extended hours. Reliable personal transportation, valid driver’s license, and vehicle insurance are mandatory due to the travel involved between HPU worksites and other locations.
HPU is an equal opportunity employer dedicated to creating a diverse workplace free from discrimination. We encourage applications from veterans and individuals with disabilities. All prospective employees will undergo a pre-employment background check. Join HPU’s athletic department and contribute to a university community that values the spirit of ‘ohana and strives for excellence in higher education and athletics.
