Job Description

Hawai'i Pacific University (HPU) is a distinguished institution recognized as an Alaskan Native and Native Hawaiian Serving Institution by the US Department of Education. Located in Honolulu, Hawaii, HPU is a vibrant academic community committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion. The university prides itself on offering a collaborative environment where more than 5,000 students and a dedicated faculty and staff community come together to pursue academic excellence and professional development. HPU is deeply rooted in the values of aloha, pono, and kuleana, which emphasize respect, integrity, responsibility, and a spirit of family. These principles guide every aspect of university life, from student engagement to employee relations and institutional growth.

The university's Athletics Administration Department plays a crucial role in enhancing campus life and community spirit by organizing and managing a wide range of athletic events and activities. The Athletics Department's mission is to support student-athletes in developing their skills, achieving competitive excellence, and fostering sportsmanship while complying with NCAA and PacWest regulations. This integral part of HPU not only promotes physical fitness and teamwork but also raises the university's profile through regional and national competitions.

The position of Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Events (AADFE) at Hawai'i Pacific University is a full-time, exempt staff role based at St. Francis in downtown Honolulu. This role offers an annual salary range of $48,000 to $60,000 and is essential for the seamless planning and execution of all athletics events within the university. The AADFE ensures that all events comply with NCAA and PacWest policies and protocols, providing a professional and efficient atmosphere on game days and related functions. The role involves close collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Sports Information Director, coaches, the Athletics Director, and facility staff, to deliver high-quality athletic events and experiences.

Key responsibilities for the Assistant Athletics Director include planning and managing all athletic events, preparing facilities for games, supervising off-campus events, and ensuring compliance with all applicable rules and guidelines. Additionally, the AADFE spearheads the Athletics Department's fundraising efforts, organizing annual department-wide events as well as team-specific campaigns. This includes accurate documentation and handling of all donations and fundraising revenues, ensuring proper coding and timely deposit of funds.

The ideal candidate for this dynamic role possesses a blend of event management expertise, experience within an athletics environment, and a strong commitment to compliance and ethical standards. The position demands excellent organizational skills, the ability to work under pressure, and the flexibility to work extended hours, including travel to off-site events. A bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and at least two years of relevant experience are required, with a master's degree and fundraising experience considered highly desirable.

HPU is known for its supportive work culture that fosters collegiality, mutual respect, and professional growth. The university offers a competitive compensation package and a comprehensive set of benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, tuition waivers, and various employee discounts. Joining HPU means becoming part of a learning community dedicated to making a positive impact locally and globally through shared values and collaborative efforts. The Assistant Athletics Director for Facilities and Events has a significant opportunity to contribute to that mission by enhancing the athletics experience and supporting the university's fundraising initiatives.
