We are currently seeking an Artisan Baker to join our dynamic culinary team as a Pastry Cook. As an Artisan Baker at Marriott St. Louis Grand, you will be responsible for preparing a wide variety of pastries, bread, desserts, and other baked goods following Marriott's established recipes and presentation guidelines. This position requires a keen eye for detail and adherence to food safety regulations, as you will be handling food storage, personal hygiene, and maintaining cleanliness in the bakery/kitchen environment. You will also operate and maintain baking equipment, ensuring its safe and efficient use. Monitoring ovens and kitchen machinery for accurate cooking times and temperatures is essential to achieving consistency across all baked products.
Collaboration and effective communication with fellow team members and guests are vital components of this role. Job Requirements
- Maintain a standing position walk around or sit for a long time
- Raise convey propel or tug objects weighing 25 lbs or less without assistance
- Twist pull stoop and reach overhead and below knees while bending
- Engage in activities on unstable or irregular terrains including stairs and ramps
Job Qualifications
- Fulfillment of high school diploma or GED requirements
- Less than a year of specific background in baking pastry-making or kitchen duties
- No licenses or certifications required
- Supervisory experience is not a must-have
Job Duties
- Prepare and bake various types of goods like pastries bread desserts and similar items following standardized recipes and presentation standards
- Scale out combine portion and prep the elements for the daily baking operations
- Securely operate and upkeep baking equipment and tools according to regulations
- Monitor ovens and kitchen machinery to confirm the correct cooking periods and temperature controls
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation policies by correctly storing food items practicing good personal hygiene and maintaining kitchen cleanliness
- Complete workstation setup and breakdown procedures according to kitchen rules
- Make sure that each batch prepared during the shift meets the required standards of food quality and consistency
