Job Description

The hiring company is a leading retail organization specializing in fashion and visual merchandising across multiple store locations. Known for its focus on maintaining high visual standards and engaging store environments, the company prides itself on delivering a compelling in-store experience that aligns with its corporate brand image and strategies. As a dynamic organization with a commitment to innovation and excellence in retail marketing and presentation, it continuously seeks skilled professionals who can influence and elevate its merchandising efforts at the store level.

The role of Area Visual Merchandise Manager is pivotal within the company, dedicated to overseeing and enforcing visual merchandising standards within a specific geographical zone. This role requires frequent travel to assigned stores (about three days per week) to provide hands-on leadership, training, and evaluation of visual merchandising practices. The manager partners closely with store management and visual merchandising associates to ensure that mannequins, product displays, signage, lighting, and seasonal collateral adhere strictly to corporate guidelines. By doing so, the Area Visual Merchandise Manager helps create a consistent and impactful shopping environment across all stores in their zone.

Key responsibilities include planning and implementing visual directives, communicating effectively with various internal teams—including store managers, assistant store managers, and regional executives—and supervising the maintenance and proper use of merchandising materials. The role also involves organizing inventory and storage of visual assets to prevent damage, and coordinating cosmetic displays based on corporate promotional calendars. This position fosters development and training of less experienced visual merchandisers while ensuring quality control and execution of seasonal and promotional setups, shop installations, and special events.

An ideal candidate has a minimum of a high school diploma, with preferred education including a degree from an accredited art school or college, along with at least two years of experience in visual merchandising or retail management. Essential skills for success in this role include proficiency in Excel and Access, strong communication abilities, a keen fashion sense with an eye for detail, and the capability to supervise and motivate teams effectively. Physically, the role requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work at heights, and stand for long periods.

This position reports to the Senior Zone Visual Merchandising Manager and involves oversight of visual merchandising associates and collaboration with multiple store leadership teams. With opportunities to participate in new store openings, remodels, and other special projects, the Area Visual Merchandise Manager plays a critical role in shaping the visual appeal and operational success of the retail stores under their supervision. This role is ideal for energetic, detail-oriented merchandising professionals passionate about fashion presentation and retail excellence.
