The Area Sales Manager role at The Barnes Hotel is an integral leadership position reporting directly to the Area Director of Sales and Marketing. Job Requirements

  • 4-year bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management or related major preferred
  • Minimum 5 years sales experience in hotel environment
  • Experience managing sales efforts across multiple properties or complex portfolios preferred
  • Ability to handle confidential information discretely and in the proper manner
  • Highly motivated individual who can work independently
  • Self-starter, and possess excellent presentation skills
  • Must maintain a neat and well-groomed appearance
  • Willingness and ability to travel for business purposes

Job Duties

  • Manage and drive sales efforts across two or more assigned hotel properties, ensuring alignment with overall revenue goals and brand standards
  • Respond to assigned market leads/inquiries within two-hours
  • Prepare and submit required reports in a timely manner
  • Understand both monthly forecasting and the annual budget process
  • Have a comprehensive knowledge of all operational departments within the hotel including guest services, reservations, housekeeping, audio visual, switchboard, accounting, restaurants, bars, and engineering
  • Know meeting room setups and capabilities
  • Optimize room rates and rental charges
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of sales techniques including closing and negotiating skills
  • Work with outside vendors to ensure client satisfaction for all events/groups
  • Monitor group room blocks and pick-up
  • Lead hotel site inspections and client presentations
  • Field numerous inquiry calls and walk-ins, providing information and availability of facilities
  • Book groups and events through phone inquiries, appointments, and marketing
  • Continuously design, monitor and regulate the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all sales automation technology and record keeping
  • Continuously educate all event planners on hotel procedures such as meal guarantees, set-up styles, payment terms, and all available hotel services
  • Know sleeping room configurations and types
  • Keep immediate supervisor fully informed of all problems or matters requiring attention
  • Manage existing accounts and follow up with client re-solicitation to capture future business
  • Work with other departments within the hotel to provide exceptional service to clients
  • Use feedback from client evaluations to improve service and quality
  • Attend community/social events and industry meetings
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of market trends, competition and customers
  • Work collaboratively with the sales and marketing team to promote initiatives
  • Submit weekly activities reports
  • Log activities, contacts, and communication
