The role of Area Manager, Food & Beverage Purchasing at Knott's Berry Farm is pivotal in ensuring the smooth and efficient procurement processes within the company. This full-time position offers a competitive salary ranging from $70,304 to $80,000 annually, commensurate with prior experience. The Area Manager will oversee all food and beverage purchasing needs, including warehouse management, receiving, distribution, and inventory control. Key responsibilities include forecasting demand, negotiating with suppliers, managing budgets, and ensuring compliance with company policies. This role also involves leading a team, collaborating with finance departments to manage payables, and maintaining optimal stock levels to support the park's diverse dining locations. The ideal candidate will be adept at analyzing purchasing trends, resolving discrepancies, and driving cost-saving initiatives while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service. Additional duties include setting up new supplier accounts, conducting competitive bids for projects, and leading monthly inventory processes to ensure accurate financial reporting. Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • 6-8 years relevant work experience
  • 1-3 years supervisory or leadership experience
  • proficiency in JD Edwards, Food Trak, and Maintenance Connection software
  • availability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • ability to pass drug test and background check
  • strong negotiation and communication skills
  • valid driver's license preferred

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree with emphasis in business preferred
  • Certified Purchasing Manager Certificate preferred
  • 6-8 years relevant work experience preferred
  • 1-3 years supervisory or leadership experience
  • knowledge of JD Edwards, Food Trak, and Maintenance Connection software
  • ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • ability to pass random drug testing and background check
  • excellent negotiation skills
  • good written and verbal communication skills
  • strong organizational skills
  • experience with Microsoft Office and purchasing software
  • valid driver's license preferred

Job Duties

  • Purchase order adherence
  • budget management
  • pricing update communication
  • utilization of preferred suppliers and manufacturers
  • assist in new account set-up
  • review invoice and billing discrepancies with vendors and accounts payable
  • make recommendations to management on emergency purchases and competitive bids
  • assist with procurement of warehouse inventories and requisitioned products
  • ensure department operates within budgets
  • lead departmental staff meetings
  • communicate with staff about workload and projects daily
  • work with finance department to communicate and adhere to contract agreements
  • review and reconcile late invoice payment reports
  • maintain product inventories to meet business needs and financial objectives
  • lead inventory turn rate goals and improvements
  • manage month-end financial reporting processes
  • review inventory levels for risk management
  • maintain staffing levels and hours within the department
  • develop, coach, and motivate staff to meet goals
  • adhere to company policies including safety, attendance, and EEO
  • provide updates to management and vendors regarding purchasing
  • participate in non-purchasing projects to ensure timelines and needs are met
