Job Description
Amrize is a leading company in the North American cement manufacturing industry, renowned for its commitment to innovation, safety, and sustainability. The company is dedicated to building infrastructure and communities by producing high-quality cement products that support construction projects across the continent. Amrize operates flagship cement manufacturing facilities that emphasize operational excellence, environmental stewardship, and employee development. With a focus on advancing technology and continuous improvement, Amrize combines deep industry knowledge with modern practices to maintain its competitive edge and meet the evolving needs of its customers and the markets it serves.
The company prides itself on fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace where employees at all levels can contribute to meaningful projects and develop their careers. Offering competitive compensation, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for professional development, Amrize positions itself as a preferred employer in the manufacturing sector. The company embraces values centered on safety, respect, integrity, and collaboration.
The Area Manager, Cement Kiln System, is a vital leadership role within the plant management team, responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and reliable operation of Amrize's flagship cement manufacturing plant. This position focuses on the end-to-end management of clinker production processes and maintenance activities associated with kiln operations, fuel handling, pyro-processing, and the material handling systems essential to cement production. The Area Manager is tasked with strategic and operational planning, process optimization, and cross-functional coordination across maintenance, production, quality, and reliability departments.
In this role, the Area Manager leads multiple Area Leaders and is accountable for ensuring strict compliance with safety, environmental, maintenance, and quality standards while meeting production throughput, cost efficiency, and operational targets. The position demands a hands-on approach for managing departmental key performance indicators, budget oversight, and the successful completion of major kiln outages and turnaround projects. It also involves driving continuous improvement initiatives using data analysis and root cause methodologies.
Successful candidates must demonstrate strong technical expertise, particularly in understanding clinkerization, kiln systems, vertical grinding mills, and heat transfer operations. Excellent communication skills and visible leadership are imperative for nurturing a high-performing team through coaching, problem-solving, and informed decision-making. This role offers candidates an opportunity to impact not only the operational success of a major manufacturing facility but also the broader strategic goals that drive Amrize's growth and sustainability in the industry.
This full-time position invites professionals with a background in mechanical or chemical engineering, ideally with a master’s degree, and 10 to 15 years of relevant experience in cement manufacturing or related heavy industry sectors. The role requires proficiency with software systems such as SAP and Amrize’s proprietary platforms to optimize equipment effectiveness and maintenance costs. Adherence to safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, is essential for all employees in this position.
Joining Amrize as an Area Manager means contributing to building the future of North America’s infrastructure through leadership of critical manufacturing operations. The company supports career development with competitive salaries, comprehensive health and wellness programs, retirement savings plans, employee stock purchase options, paid time off, parental leave, and educational assistance, all within a culture committed to equity and inclusion.
