Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred
  • minimum three years of relevant experience in hotel finance or hospitality accounting
  • knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • excellent verbal and written communication abilities
  • proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments
  • knowledge of local, state, and federal tax laws related to hospitality
  • understanding of auditing procedures and internal controls
  • strong organizational skills
  • ability to manage multiple priorities under deadline
  • commitment to ethical financial practices
  • eligibility to work in the United States

Job Qualifications

  • B.S. in accounting or hotel management preferred
  • three plus years experience in hotel or hospitality related finance and accounting

Job Duties

  • Supervise and direct the financial activities of the hotel
  • safeguard the assets
  • prepare all financial reports according to generally accepted accounting principles and HEI Hotels and Resorts standards
  • perform special financial analysis as requested by General Manager and Corporate Office
  • provide accurate financial reporting based on HMA requirements
  • communicate timely and accurately with ownership group
  • provide practical cost-benefit solutions
  • offer accurate policy interpretations
  • participate actively in Executive Committee and staff meetings
  • assist managers in analyzing financial statements and other financial data
  • support and comply with property standards and Corporate SOPs
  • correct deficiencies identified on Internal Audit reports
  • maintain effective cash control systems
  • review security over assets and auditing inventories
  • understand leases, contracts, agreements, covenants, and restrictions
  • comply with sales tax laws and regulations regarding innkeepers, liquor, and labor
  • schedule and coordinate annual operating budget preparation and presentation
  • coordinate capital expenditure budget according to SOP
  • control capital expenditure program and complete ROI analysis
  • review financial statements for accuracy and make corrections as needed
  • inform management of financial problems
  • monitor sales and profit attainment
  • coordinate labor management system
  • maintain standards for accounts receivable
  • approve major accounts for credit
  • document and audit compliance with local credit policy
  • conduct credit and write-off meetings
  • review banquet and group accounts for credit approvals prior to arrival
  • manage bad debt expenses
  • fulfill accounts receivable responsibilities to maximize realization
  • complete required financial reports for Corporate Staff
  • reconcile account balances
  • establish accruals and pre-paid balances
  • calculate inventory turn ratios and compare to standards
  • work with department managers to control inventory balances
  • comply with payment deferral procedures
  • maintain and update job descriptions
  • comply with wage policies
  • establish cross training within the department
  • recruit management candidates externally
  • adhere to attendance rules
  • perform other duties as assigned
