About the role

The company is currently seeking a strategic and detail-oriented Area Director of Events to lead event execution across two prestigious properties: Hotel Bardo Savannah and Recess Hotel & Club. This role is essential in overseeing the full lifecycle of event management—from initial planning to final execution—ensuring that each event delivers a seamless, thoughtful, and brand-aligned experience.

Reporting as a key leader within the commercial team, the Area Director of Events collaborates closely with colleagues in Sales, Food & Beverage, and Operations to deliver cohesive and impactful events. The successful candidate will set high standards for service excellence, foster strong client relationships, and promote consistency in event delivery across both properties. Leadership and mentorship are core responsibilities, as the role involves guiding and developing the events team to enhance their skills and performance.

This position is based in Savannah, Georgia, and requires a hands-on leadership approach to managing multiple venues simultaneously. Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive experience in event services or event management, preferably within luxury hospitality or a lifestyle brand
  • Experience overseeing multiple venues or properties, with the ability to balance competing priorities and timelines
  • Proven leadership skills with a track record of developing teams and driving performance
  • Strong operational mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, solve problems, and execute with precision
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust across teams and with clients
  • Financial acumen, including experience managing budgets and tracking event performance
  • Flexible, hands-on approach with a willingness to step in and support execution as needed

Job Duties

  • Lead event planning and execution across both properties, ensuring alignment in service standards, communication, and overall experience
  • Partner with Sales to transition booked business into successful, well-executed events, maintaining strong client relationships throughout
  • Oversee the creation, accuracy, and distribution of Banquet Event Orders (BEOs), ensuring all departments are aligned and informed
  • Serve as the senior point of contact for clients, maintaining a visible and engaged presence during events as needed
  • Direct all event logistics including setup, breakdown, staffing, and equipment coordination to ensure seamless operations
  • Coach and develop the Events Managers and broader team, providing clear direction, feedback, and support
  • Establish and maintain service standards, continuously refining processes to elevate the guest and client experience
  • Collaborate with Food & Beverage and Operations leaders to ensure consistent execution and thoughtful delivery across all event touchpoints
  • Develop and manage event budgets, forecasts, and cost controls to support financial performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, communication, and overall event execution across both properties
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors and partners to support high-quality, reliable event delivery
