Job Description
GDI is a reputable company specializing in the manufacturing and installation of residential sunrooms and screen rooms, providing homeowners with high-quality, custom outdoor living spaces. Established with a commitment to excellence and customer satisfaction, GDI offers comprehensive services that range from product manufacturing to on-site installation. Known for their attention to detail and craftsmanship, the company focuses on delivering durable and aesthetically pleasing sunroom and screen room solutions tailored to individual client needs. GDI operates as a full-time employer with competitive pay rates, offering wages up to $24 hourly alongside a robust benefits package including full benefits, vacation time, and a 401(k) retirement plan.
The role of Measure/Breakout/Order at GDI is integral to the successful delivery of each residential project. This position involves traveling to customers' homes to perform precise measurements necessary for installation, reviewing the job details as outlined by the sales team, and identifying any potential installation challenges before they arise. The Measure/Breakout/Order professional uses specialized software to break out jobs on the computer, effectively preparing orders for all materials needed. This not only includes the primary products but also peripheral and non-primary equipment materials to ensure the job is properly staged for warehouse preparation and timely installation.
This position demands strong technical skills, an eye for detail, and excellent customer service abilities. The individual will need to interact positively with customers, subcontractors, and internal team members such as operations superintendents and regional operations managers. Additionally, responsibilities include reviewing contracts with customers, handling job preparation for CAD, zoning, HOA approvals, and permits, as well as managing permit drop-offs and pickups when necessary. Service work and collaboration with subcontractors for foundation or product installation questions are also part of the role. Due to the nature of this work, candidates must have a clean driving record and background check, as well as the ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately. Experience with residential sunrooms and screen rooms is highly preferred, making familiarity with these products advantageous for the role.
Overall, this full-time position at GDI offers a rewarding career opportunity for skilled professionals with a background in installation or carpentry, strong technical aptitude, and a customer-focused approach. GDI emphasizes performance expectations such as achieving a customer service survey score of 90% or higher, maintaining project timelines aligned with branch production schedules, and implementing effective inventory and material management aligned with branch forecasts. Employees in this role are supported by a culture that values quality workmanship, cooperative teamwork, and dedication to exceeding customer expectations. With competitive hourly pay, full benefits, vacation, and retirement plans, this position offers long-term growth potential within a specialized niche of the residential construction industry.
