This listing is for the position of Arboretum Event Bartender, a short-term, temporary role designed primarily for events held at the Arboretum's scenic location in Chaska, MN. These positions are limited to 67 days worked or less per calendar year and are vital to enhancing visitor experience during various functions on site. The Arboretum Event Bartender is responsible for setting up and tearing down the bar area, providing exceptional beverage service to guests with professionalism and courtesy, and adhering to established standards of excellence. This role demands a blend of customer service skills, attention to detail, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements. The bartender ensures that all beverage operations run smoothly by maintaining inventory, handling cash transactions with accuracy, and preparing drinks following established recipes and portion controls. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation and service of various alcoholic beverages
- Successfully completed T.I.P.S. training
- Ability to obtain any government required license or certificate
- Basic mathematical and computer skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, total all other charges, and understand portion sizes
- Ability to read, speak and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders
- Exceptional customer service experience
- Must be a registered UMN student and maintain the number of UMN required credits
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Maintains proper and adequate set-up of the bar when scheduled
- Responsible for maintaining stock, cutting, and storing of all fresh fruit and vegetable garnishes, juices and other perishables daily to insure product quality
- Greets guests in a courteous and friendly manner, promotes and documents orders for drinks
- Mixes, garnishes and presents drinks using standard ingredient recipes and practicing prudent portion control
- Inputs orders into a point-of-sale system
- Receives cash from guests, makes any change needed, verifies validity of charges, records charges, and ensures vouchers (drink tickets) are properly executed, in order to balance all money
- Responsible for sanitation in and around the bar area
- Read and understand all particulars of Banquet Event Orders, including start time and beverage requirements
- After function, remove inventory and all beverage equipment to proper storage
- Retrieve and store bar glassware to proper storage
- Work effectively and efficiently with the events team, facilities team, and catering staff
- Expediently communicate any challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Supervisor
- Respond to the Supervisor's instructions and directions
- Observe all safety procedures during the execution of assigned duties
- Maintain a positive and professional attitude towards guests, co-workers and management
- Arrive at scheduled start time in appropriate uniform and ready to work
- Must adhere to all State, Federal, and Organizational liquor regulations pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages to ensure all laws are being followed
- Other duties as assigned
