As part of this dynamic team, the Party Planner role plays a crucial part in delivering exceptional, memorable experiences to American Girl guests. This part-time position is centered around creating premier party events within the American Girl Retail Team and offers an exciting opportunity for individuals with a passion for customer relations, event planning, and a knack for multitasking in fast-paced, high-pressure environments.

The Party Planner works closely with party guests to craft magical, immersive celebrations in conjunction with the American Girl Bistro. Key responsibilities include managing all event logistics, maintaining a pleasant ambiance, ensuring timely seating and guest greeting, service delivery including food and beverages, upselling, and overseeing the preparation and clean-up of event spaces. This role emphasizes superior communication and organizational skills to meet American Girl’s standards of excellence and customer satisfaction. The planner also collaborates with external vendors and handles product orders to ensure parties exceed expectations and operate within budgetary guidelines.

Exceptional customer service is at the heart of the Party Planner's duties, requiring the ability to resolve issues graciously and maintain an engaging, welcoming atmosphere throughout each event. Candidates must have a working knowledge of local and state health sanitation laws and workplace safety guidelines to ensure compliance. Additionally, the role involves training and supporting team members across front and back-of-house areas and proficiency in the InfoGenesis system for transaction accuracy.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older
  • high school degree or equivalent required
  • minimum 6 months work experience in customer relations parties or events
  • ability to work flexible schedule including nights weekends and holidays
  • ability to perform physical tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds standing and walking for extended periods
  • good communication skills
  • willingness to maintain positive attitude and work in fast-paced environment
  • knowledge of health sanitation laws preferred
  • ServeSafe certification preferred

Job Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • undergraduate education preferred
  • minimum of 6 months’ experience in customer relations parties or events
  • one to two years’ experience in high-volume fine-casual dining or related restaurant preferred
  • experience working with children preferred
  • current ServeSafe certification preferred
  • good verbal and communication skills required
  • must enjoy public speaking and working with children
  • possess a warm and friendly demeanor

Job Duties

  • Achieves and delivers timely steps of party execution including communication with customers prior to events

  • executes events to American Girl standards including games crafts hair styling and doll skin care
  • maintains ongoing party communications with staff management and retail sales departments
  • complies with local and state health sanitation laws and workplace safety guidelines
  • assigns and completes daily tasks and side work for front and back of house areas
  • utilizes InfoGenesis system for transaction accuracy
  • trains teaches and assists teammates including support across various restaurant areas when needed
