Job Description
Hotel de la Poste is a distinguished soft-branded Renaissance hotel located in the heart of New Orleans' vibrant French Quarter, recently transitioned from The W New Orleans. This property beautifully blends modern luxury with the rich cultural heritage and spirited essence that New Orleans is famous for. Guests at Hotel de la Poste enjoy an immersive experience characterized by the city's history, music, particularly jazz, and cuisine, all set among the charming historic architecture and lively streets filled with energy and tradition. As a premier hospitality establishment, Hotel de la Poste is committed to delivering exceptional service and creating a welcoming environment for every guest that walks through its doors.
The role of Food Server at Hotel de la Poste plays a crucial part in maintaining the high service standards the hotel is known for. This position requires an individual who can provide prompt and courteous food and beverage service within the hotel's restaurant, ensuring guests' experiences exceed expectations. The Food Server is responsible for greeting customers, taking accurate food and drink orders, accommodating special requests, and maintaining attentiveness throughout the entire dining experience. This role also includes essential tasks such as restocking, cleaning, and sidework required for opening and closing the service areas.
An important aspect of the job is familiarity with the menu, including items, recipes, and daily specials, to efficiently answer guests' questions and provide recommendations. Maintaining cleanliness and adherence to health regulations within the restaurant and service areas is vital to uphold the hotel's reputation and comply with state and local health requirements. The Food Server must control guest checks accurately using established procedures, receive payments securely, and provide guests with impeccable customer service both in person and over the phone.
Hotel de la Poste encourages participation in pre-meal and departmental meetings to enhance communication and improve knowledge about the hotel's offerings. The ideal candidate will present themselves professionally and maintain a friendly, cheerful, and courteous demeanor at all times, contributing positively to the dynamic and lively atmosphere that reflects New Orleans’ culture.
This is an excellent opportunity for those who want to be part of a team within a community-oriented, fun, and exciting work environment. Competitive health and welfare plans, discounted room rates for Marriott and Sage Properties, and negotiated corporate discounts on home insurance, movie tickets, flowers, and more are offered. The role generally requires a high school education or equivalent and a minimum of three months of relevant experience in a similar position, along with basic knowledge of customer service principles and standard restaurant operations. Physical ability to lift or carry up to 50 lbs, stand for prolonged periods, and maneuver effectively in a busy restaurant setting is required to succeed in this role.
