The Server role at Texas A&M Hotel and Conference Center offers passionate individuals a chance to be the difference in the guest dining experience. This position involves providing attentive table service, from greeting guests and presenting menus to accurately taking food and beverage orders and ensuring guest satisfaction. Serving in this dynamic environment requires excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to operate point-of-sale systems efficiently. The Server is a vital member of the hospitality team, dedicated to delivering high-quality service during both routine and special event periods, including football game days and graduations.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous experience as a server preferred
  • must obtain the Texas food handling certification and TABC certification
  • must be at least 18 years old
  • ability to operate point-of-sale systems
  • prolonged periods of standing and walking
  • must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Greet guests as they are seated at the table
  • ensure the table is clean and that utensils, napkins, and other needs have been provided
  • distribute menus and present the daily specials
  • answer questions regarding the menu
  • take food and beverage orders and deliver them to the kitchen
  • deliver food, beverages, condiments, and other requested items to guests
  • ensure that food is prepared correctly and to guests' satisfaction
  • return incorrect or improperly cooked orders to kitchen
  • collect plates and clear the table as guests finish their meals
  • prepare guests' checks and collect payments
  • assist with other restaurant tasks such as cleaning the dining area and preparing silverware and condiments
  • perform other related duties as assigned
