The role of AM Kitchen Helper plays a crucial part in the day-to-day dining experience of RLC residents. As an AM Kitchen Helper, the successful candidate will assist in preparing, stocking, and maintaining a fresh and appealing salad bar, setting a positive tone for residents' daily dining. This role includes friendly support in the dining room, ensuring tables are clean and service runs smoothly. Additionally, the AM Kitchen Helper is responsible for hygienically washing and sanitizing tableware, cookware, and equipment to maintain community safety and high standards of cleanliness.

The position operates from Sunday to Thursday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm, offering a consistent schedule well-suited for individuals seeking stable employment. The role does not require prior culinary experience, making it accessible to those eager to enter the hospitality or food service field. Employees will also be expected to obtain necessary food handler permits within the first two weeks of employment, ensuring compliance with local health regulations.

Job Duties

  • Operate the dish machine by loading, running, unloading, and reporting any mechanical issues
  • monitor and log water temperatures to ensure proper sanitization
  • wash, store, and handle all tableware and kitchenware with care
  • maintain a clean, organized dish room and ensure adequate levels of clean items for the dining room and kitchen
  • clean food preparation and production areas as needed
  • assist in the dining room by bussing tables, filling water carafes, preparing tables before meals, and delivering room-service orders
  • safely use ovens, steamers, grills, and kitchen tools to support food preparation
  • listen and respond politely to food comments or complaints and report concerns to leadership
  • perform support work including trash removal
