This Cashier role at Dish Society involves providing friendly and responsive service to ensure each guest has a memorable dining experience that encourages repeat visits. Cashiers are the first point of contact for guests and are responsible for welcoming and engaging them warmly, informing them of menu offerings and specials, and assisting with their food and beverage orders. Utilizing the restaurant’s point-of-sale system, cashiers enter orders accurately which are relayed to the kitchen and bar, and ensure timely delivery of orders. Maintaining clean service stations, monitoring guests’ satisfaction, and assisting team members with clearing tables or covering shifts as needed are essential duties for this role. The ideal candidate is someone who is naturally driven to provide excellent service, has a great attitude, is team-oriented, and shares Dish Society’s passion for sustainable, local food and positive community impact.

Job Requirements

  • Be able to communicate clearly and effectively
  • must have basic knowledge of dining room and service procedures and functions
  • possess basic math skills and have the ability to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system
  • be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time
  • be able to safely lift and maneuver trays of food up to 20 to 25 pounds

Job Duties

  • Welcome and greet guests
  • inform guests of specials and menu changes
  • make recommendations guests will enjoy
  • answer questions about food, beverages and restaurant services
  • take food and beverage orders and enter them into the point-of-sale system
  • deliver food and beverages to guests in a timely manner
  • perform side work at the start and end of shifts
  • maintain clean service areas
  • monitor dining experience and respond to guest requests
  • prepare final bills and handle payments
  • assist servers and bussers as needed
  • thank guests and invite them to return
  • fill in to ensure smooth restaurant operation
  • attend scheduled employee meetings
  • perform other duties as assigned
