The current opportunity is for an AM Barista/Cashier position at The Lantern Columbia, one of Raines Co.'s esteemed properties. The AM Barista/Cashier plays a crucial role in starting the guests’ day on a positive and cheerful note by preparing and serving coffee and breakfast items in a warm and inviting atmosphere. The role is part of the morning team, typically scheduled from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM, and emphasizes both guest service and operational efficiency. This position involves setting up the work and guest areas, operating the Point of Sale system to enter orders accurately, maintaining cleanliness and presentation of the lobby and food areas, and providing attentive, friendly interaction with guests.
The ideal candidate for this AM Barista/Cashier role should have a passion for hospitality and a genuine desire to create memorable experiences for guests. While prior experience as a barista, food runner, or busser is advantageous, it is not mandatory since Raines values heart and attitude over technical skills and offers training accordingly. The position requires strong interpersonal skills to engage guests warmly, including learning guests’ names and anticipating their needs with care. Job Requirements
- Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
- ability to work early morning hours typically from 6:30 AM to 11:30 AM
- experience as a barista, food runner, or busser preferred but not required
- willingness to learn and be trained in coffee preparation and POS operation
- adhere to all health and safety protocols
- ability to engage with guests positively and professionally
- pass pre-employment background check
Job Qualifications
- Minimum high school diploma, certificate of completion, GED or equivalent
- experience in hotels, restaurants, or related customer service fields preferred but not required
- certification such as ServSafe as required or willingness to obtain certification
- strong interpersonal and communication skills
- ability to operate POS system
- ability to follow health and safety regulations
Job Duties
- Greet guests and provide expert information on all breakfast offerings
- maintain pastry display, countertop, storage, and front of house areas in a clean and presentable manner
- prepare and present all breakfast items including coffees using standard recipes and kitchen equipment
- bring breakfast items that originate in the kitchen to guests in a timely and friendly manner
- accurately post all transactions into the POS and close all tickets
- engage guests throughout their visit in a friendly and caring manner and try to remember names
- assist guests with requests as appropriate
- comply with all health and safety regulations
- be a great teammate
