The Alterations Customer Service Representative (CSR) plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the alterations department and delivering an A+ customer experience to every individual entering the store or seeking support virtually. Reporting directly to the Store Manager, this position is integral to maintaining customer satisfaction through a combination of communication, organization, and hands-on garment care. The Alterations CSR is responsible for many key activities including welcoming customers warmly, scheduling appointment times efficiently, responding promptly to phone inquiries, pressing garments to perfection, and preparing altered items for timely pickup.

This role demands a personable and proactive individual who can juggle multiple customer needs simultaneously while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor. The CSR uses a variety of systems and tools to manage customer flow effectively and ensure every interaction meets the company’s renowned five-star service standards. From answering phones and virtual chats to anticipating customer concerns and providing clear solutions, the Alterations CSR is the face of the alterations department and an ambassador of the David’s Bridal brand.

Physically, the position involves extended periods of standing, walking, and occasional lifting, along with fine manual dexterity required for garment handling and sewing tasks as needed. Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or equivalent, retail experience in apparel or specialty stores, and familiarity with sewing and computerized point-of-sale systems. Prior sewing experience, while helpful, is not mandatory but valued.

Job Duties

  • Welcome all customers with genuine and friendly enthusiasm over the phone, virtual chats and in person
  • Communicate clearly and concisely adapting style to suit customers by problem solving, excellent phone skills and resolving conflict
  • Use all systems to manage the customer flow to deliver five-star customer experience
  • Meet all service vows including prepare, welcome, meet needs and be there for all customers, includes all operational checklist tasks and meeting customers emotional and practical needs
  • Provide an exceptional service experience to multiple customers at one time and contribute to the store achievement of five-star customer service
  • Proactively address customer concerns with confidence and know when to escalate and partner with leadership team
  • Effectively communicate how alterations can perfect the dress for her event in partnership with alterations
  • Promote all alterations services and personalization options
  • Maintain store standards such as clean, organized, promotional readiness and store recovery to support a flawless shopping experience
  • Maintain high dress code standards as required by the dress code policy
  • Greet and escort alterations customers to and from alterations for appointments
  • Press, steam and spot clean all merchandise
  • Follow quality control guidelines and inspect all garments altered, steamed or pressed to verify pristine condition before final delivery to customer
  • Build long-term relationships to meet and exceed customer satisfaction and loyalty
  • Support inventory management by processing special orders, pickups and first quality standards for merchandise
  • Support all cash wrap behaviors and processes transactions with accuracy to make sure every customer feels celebrated
  • Seek assistance from the alterations manager to address customer issues that cannot be resolved independently
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized alterations room
  • Perform duties and tasks as assigned by store management
