Job Description

AlmaVia of Camarillo is a vibrant assisted living and memory care community located in the heart of Ventura County, California. As part of the Elder Care Alliance family, AlmaVia is dedicated to providing exceptional, person-centered care that enhances the quality of life for its residents. The community specializes in assisting older adults by fostering a supportive environment tailored to their unique needs, including memory care for individuals with cognitive impairments. AlmaVia is well-known for its Culture of Excellence, which is built on a foundation of respect, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to the well-being of both its residents and team members. The culture promotes collaboration, support, innovation, and compassion, all of which are core to the organization's mission and daily operations.\n\nWe are currently seeking motivated and skilled cooks or chefs to join our culinary team. This role plays a crucial part in maintaining the high standards of food quality and safety that our residents expect and deserve. The position pays $20.90 to $22.57 per hour, with actual pay determined by experience, skills, and training. The ideal candidate thrives in an environment where meaningful work happens every day, enjoys preparing high-quality food, and desires to make a positive impact on the lives of older adults.\n\nIn this role, cooks and chefs are responsible for preparing assigned stations for their shifts and working under the direction of the lead cook or sous chef. They will prepare individual components of various entrees and food items, strictly adhering to the specific dietary restrictions of our residents. Furthermore, staff members must maintain kitchen food safety and sanitary food handling in compliance with State, Federal, and Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) regulations to ensure residents' health and well-being. The role requires flexibility in scheduling, including the occasional need to work weekends or alternate shifts as necessary. This position also demands excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with kitchen staff, residents, and food and equipment vendors, maintaining professional relationships essential for smooth kitchen operations. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to complete required training such as CPR and first aid if mandated by state or local guidelines. Background checks, drug screening, and other pre-employment tasks like fingerprinting or physical exams may be required depending on location and state or local requirements.\n\nJoining AlmaVia of Camarillo means becoming part of a community-focused team that values compassion, teamwork, and excellence. If you have prior cooking experience, especially as a sous chef or grill cook, and possess the ability to prepare diverse and nutritious meals, this opportunity offers a rewarding career path. We are committed to providing our employees with a professional, respectful work environment where their contributions genuinely make a difference in the quality of life of our residents.
