AlmaVia's Culture of Excellence is founded on respect, integrity, and a continuous dedication to the well-being of both residents and team members. This culture nurtures collaboration, innovation, and compassion, ensuring that every aspect of care and service meets the highest standards.
The Cook/Chef role at AlmaVia of Camarillo invites skilled culinary professionals to join a team dedicated to making a positive impact on the lives of older adults through nutritious and thoughtfully prepared meals. This position is crucial in supporting the community's mission by preparing high-quality food that meets the diverse dietary needs and preferences of residents, including therapeutic and modified diets. Reporting to the lead cook or sous chef, individuals in this role will manage assigned kitchen stations, follow proper food safety protocols in compliance with state and federal regulations, and work collaboratively to maintain a sanitary and efficient kitchen environment.
This role offers an hourly wage ranging from $20.90 to $22.57, depending on experience, skills, and training, reflecting the organization's recognition of the value skilled culinary team members bring. Beyond technical cooking skills, AlmaVia values interpersonal and communication abilities, recognizing the importance of staff-resident interaction in creating a warm, caring atmosphere. Flexibility in scheduling, including availability for some weekend shifts, is also essential to meet the dynamic needs of the community. This position may also involve maintaining professional relationships with food and equipment vendors, ensuring the smooth operation of the kitchen.
AlmaVia’s commitment to safety and wellness extends to its team members as well, with requirements such as CPR and first aid training where state or local guidelines mandate. The organization emphasizes thorough background checks, drug screening, and other pre-employment measures to ensure a safe and trustworthy caregiving environment for all. Physical requirements for the role include the ability to push, pull, or carry up to 30 pounds, reflecting the active, hands-on nature of kitchen work.
This position is ideal for culinary professionals passionate about making a meaningful difference through their craft in a caring and supportive environment. Working at AlmaVia allows employees to be part of a respected community employer that champions excellence, compassion, and mutual respect.
