The Host/Hostess position at Ho-Chunk Ale House is vital for ensuring a welcoming and smooth front-of-house operation. This role involves being the first point of contact for guests, providing a friendly greeting, managing seating arrangements, and maintaining an accurate seating chart across the restaurant, bar, and lounge areas. The Host or Hostess must efficiently coordinate the flow of the waitstaff and bus persons, update floor charts regularly, and assist with takeout orders as needed. The position requires effective communication with co-workers and supervisors to uphold high service standards and accommodate guest requests promptly. The role demands a neat, clean appearance and the ability to comply consistently with company policies and procedures.

The pay rate for this position is $16.00 per hour, and ongoing part-time night shifts and weekend opportunities are currently available. The work schedule may vary due to the nature of the hospitality and entertainment industry, requiring flexibility to meet the business's needs. Candidates must be at least 19 years of age and hold a high school diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience is preferred, along with familiarity with mobile devices and touch screen technology, including smartphones and tablets. Additional certifications such as a NE Gaming License, Food Handler, ServSafe, or TIPS Alcohol Certification are necessary due to the responsibilities involving the sale and service of alcoholic beverages.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Provides information on all aspects of available services and facilities for guests
  • greets guests and arrange seating, monitors room atmosphere
  • quotes accurate waiting times and handle guest waiting lists or reservations in accordance with established procedure
  • assists guest with special request
  • communicates with co-workers and supervisor to ensure quality service
  • maintains a seating chart for the restaurant including the bar and the lounge
  • directs the flow of work for both wait staff and bus person
  • updates the floor chart regularly throughout the shift
  • cleans menus as required throughout the shift
  • cleans and organizes the host stand daily
  • light dusting and maintaining the work area
  • assists wait staff as necessary with to go orders
  • provides prompt, friendly greeting and proper seating of all guests of the restaurant
  • ensures the smooth operation of the front of the restaurant
  • comply with all departments and company rules and regulations
  • attends periodic meetings and training sessions
  • always present oneself in a neat and clean appearance
  • performs other duties as assigned
