Operating worldwide in diverse sectors including corporate, education, healthcare, and aviation, Sodexo is committed to making a meaningful impact in the communities where it operates. The company's philosophy revolves around inclusion, respect, and fostering a culture where every employee's contributions are valued, creating a supportive and engaging workplace environment.
This particular position is for an Airport Lounge Wait Staff member at UNITED CLUB, where Sodexo delivers exceptional dining and customer service experiences to travelers. Working in a dynamic airport environment, the full-time role offers an hourly wage of $17.00 and requires open availability across various shifts. The position actively participates in elevating customer satisfaction by providing attentive, efficient service of made-to-order entrées, appetizers, desserts, and beverages from Sodexo’s restaurant menu. As part of the Sodexo team, the wait staff member is essentially an ambassador of the brand, interacting with diverse clientele and representing the company’s commitment to high standards of hospitality.
The Airport Lounge Wait Staff is responsible for greeting and seating guests, presenting menus, and communicating any specials or menu changes effectively. They must have thorough knowledge of the menu items, ingredients, potential allergens, and appropriate beverage pairings, particularly wines, to offer informed recommendations. This role involves accurate order taking, ensuring that customers’ orders are relayed correctly to the kitchen and delivered in the right sequence. Maintaining high quality and presentation standards is essential, guaranteeing that every plated dish is appetizing and consistent. Monitoring guest needs and responding promptly to their requests or complaints helps foster a welcoming and pleasant lounge atmosphere.
Physical stamina is crucial for this role, as it requires significant walking or mobility, standing for extended periods throughout shifts that may exceed eight hours, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The role also demands essential sensory skills including tasting, smelling, and manual dexterity to handle food and beverages safely and skillfully. On-time attendance, a professional demeanor, and the flexibility to handle other duties as assigned depending on client requirements and business needs are also key components of this position.
Applicants should hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and while previous experience is not strictly required, up to one year of related experience is preferred. Candidates must meet local legal age requirements for alcohol service and may be required to obtain certifications such as TIPS or TEAM to comply with state-specific alcohol service regulations. Sodexo’s work environment is flexible and supportive, providing access to ongoing training, development opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans, tuition reimbursement, employee discounts, and more.
Being an integral part of Sodexo means contributing to the company’s purpose of creating better everyday experiences for all. The company values diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that employees are treated with fairness and respect while encouraging their authentic selves. Join Sodexo in a role that offers not just a job but a chance to thrive, grow, and make a difference within a supportive team focused on delivering memorable experiences to customers every day.
