Job Requirements
- Associate's degree in social science, general studies, business administration or a closely related field
- Three years of experience as a telecommunicator in a major airport terminal or related facility
- Ability to pass a criminal background check
- Ability to obtain and maintain federally mandated security clearances
- Availability to work shift schedules including weekends and holidays
- Ability to handle complex communications and emergency coordination
- Willingness to undergo drug testing including random and assignment tests
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Physical ability to perform duties involving occasional light lifting and exposure to office conditions
Job Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Social Science, General Studies, Business Administration or a closely related field
- Three years of experience as a telecommunicator in a major airport terminal or related major facility
- Experience handling a variety of communication activities and equipment
- Professional experience in communication operations, airport operations, airport security, or airport safety may substitute education on a year-for-year basis
- Prior experience in medium to high volume dispatch, communications, or call center preferred
- CCTV experience desirable
- Ability to monitor multiple screens highly desirable
- Certification such as NIMS IS-100, NIMS IS-200, TCLEOSE or TCOLE Certification, A.A.A.E ACE Certification preferred
- Proficient in MS Outlook preferred
- Knowledge of MS Office Suite a plus
Job Duties
- Coordinate information flow during emergency situations to appropriate personnel
- Monitor the activities of the communications section to ensure service delivery standards are met and comply with airport operating procedures
- Prepare work schedules to ensure that sufficient shift employees are available for workload demands
- Monitor and document attendance of employees
- Review office operations to identify technical and operation training needs
- Provide training for employees on the operation of communications equipment and airport operating procedures
- Provide guidance, training and support to employees and resolve grievances
- Counsel employees regarding performance and handle related disciplinary actions
- Handle complaints or inquiries from the public, airport tenants and other City departments relative to communications activities
- Inspect and test working conditions of communications equipment
- Ensure communications equipment is operational and prepare documentation to repair, upgrade, or replace communications when required
- May handle complex communications calls
