Job Requirements
- Military grades O1 through O5
- possession of Federal Aviation Administration pilot certificates or appropriate military certifications
- minimum one year of on-the-job experience in grade immediately below next higher level
- at least two years of working experience in civilian or military aviation programs
- demonstrated ability to operate and instruct piloting of specified mainframe military aircraft
- experience in mission planning and execution
- knowledge of aviation safety and operational regulations
- ability to work independently and perform risk management in flight operations
- ability to instruct and evaluate crew members
Job Qualifications
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university
- Federal Aviation Administration pilot certifications or equivalent military aviation certifications
- minimum one year of on-the-job experience in a comparable military rank
- minimum two years of experience in civilian or military aviation programs
- proficiency in piloting fixed-wing, rotary, or remotely piloted aircraft
- knowledge of flight theory, air navigation, meteorology, and flight safety protocols
- experience in training and instructing other pilots
- demonstrated ability to plan and manage complex flight missions
- familiarity with Department of the Air Force and National Guard Bureau regulations
- experience in aviation quality control and safety management
Job Duties
- Pilot and instruct flight crews in specified military aircraft
- plan and supervise mission operations including flight preparations and crew briefings
- conduct preflight inspections, aircraft loading, and equipment assessments
- operate aircraft controls and equipment during varied missions
- perform navigation, in-flight refueling, search and rescue, reconnaissance, and surveillance tasks
- develop plans and policies related to flying operations and advise commanders
- ensure compliance with aviation safety and operational directives
