Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship required
  • Current member of AF Reserves or qualified/willing to join
  • Must obtain and maintain Top Secret clearance
  • May be subject to PCS with possible CONUS agreement
  • Position subject to DoD Priority Placement Program
  • Must sign mobility agreement
  • May require random drug testing
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, shift work, and emergency overtime
  • Must maintain current certifications
  • Direct deposit required
  • May require advance in hire with proof
  • Leave accrual authorized upon request
  • Must participate in standardization and evaluation flight exams
  • Incumbent may work uncommon tours with brief notice
  • May travel by military and/or commercial aircraft for TDYs

Job Qualifications

  • Must be an Air Reserve Technician officer with military rank Lt. Col O-5
  • Must have airplane/helicopter pilot or flight instructor experience in Air Force active duty or Reserve
  • GS-13 level requires at least 1,000 total pilot hours or 1,300 primary flight hours or equivalent instructor pilot time
  • Must be instructor qualified in unit aircraft within two years of appointment
  • Knowledge of rated aviator skills, flying and mission operations, and Air Force Reserve organization
  • Ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple tasks
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Must maintain flying status as a rated aircrew member
  • Leadership and managerial abilities essential for ART duties

Job Duties

  • Performs staff management over flight training activities of subordinate flying units including unit aircrew flight currency and ground training programs
  • Formulates plans and policies for assigned flying operations and unit flying training activities
  • Provides staff management over aircraft operations and resources
  • Provides trend analysis and status reports on all assigned flying units to Director and Division Chief
  • Ensures assigned units meet or exceed readiness and compliance requirements supporting upgraded or new aircraft
  • Represents the NAF at conferences, seminars, and meetings offering Reserve management perspective
  • Participates in staff assistance visits and management/compliance inspections
