The role of a Ramp Agent at WFS is pivotal to the seamless functioning of airport ground operations. This position is responsible for key ramp service tasks like loading and unloading baggage and cargo, marshalling aircraft during arrivals and departures, and performing essential ground services including water servicing. Ramp Agents play a critical role in ensuring that all activities around the aircraft are carried out safely and with meticulous attention to detail. This role requires a proactive individual who can operate various ground support equipment such as belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts efficiently while maintaining communication with team members and flight crews. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Ability to lift and handle heavy baggage and cargo up to 50 lbs or more
- Valid driver's license maintained throughout employment
- Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and flight crews
- Flexibility to work varied shifts including weekends, holidays, and nights
- Basic mechanical aptitude for operating ground support equipment
- Ability to pass background checks and comply with airport security regulations
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety protocols
- Fluently read, write, and speak English
- Membership in the Transport Workers Union (TWU) with union dues payment required due to collective bargaining agreement
Job Qualifications
- Previous experience in aviation or ground handling operations preferred
- Familiarity with aircraft types and airport layout preferred
- Knowledge of safety regulations and protocols in the airport environment preferred
- Experience operating ground support equipment such as tugs, belt loaders, and forklifts preferred
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
- Basic computer skills for paperwork and scheduling systems

- Positive attitude toward passenger interactions
Job Duties
- Marshall aircraft upon arrival and departure
- Load and unload cargo/baggage on and off aircraft
- Safely drive and operate ground support equipment including belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts
- Sort and load baggage
- Perform ground service functions such as connecting/removing ground power and ground start units and water service
- Perform aircraft pushback, wing walking and related guide man functions
- Maintain a secure work environment
