The Station Manager position plays a critical leadership role responsible for managing day-to-day station operations with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance, safety, and operational efficiency. This position requires excellent communication skills to effectively liaise between airline internal departments and external agencies, including airport officials, FAA, TSA, and local municipal services. The ideal candidate will bring well-developed planning and organizational abilities to establish clear goals and objectives and use performance measurements to enhance station productivity. The Station Manager is responsible for evaluating employee performance, providing constructive feedback, encouraging career advancement, and motivating the team with fairness and professionalism.

In this full-time role, the Station Manager must maintain strict compliance with Federal directives, safety standards, and quality assurance guidelines to safeguard the operational integrity and passenger experience. They oversee cost control programs to ensure the station remains financially efficient while coordinating vendor services such as fueling, catering, security, and ground handling. The role also involves handling personnel management tasks like recruitment, training, scheduling, and employee recognition programs designed to promote safety, performance, and revenue collection.

The successful candidate will ensure all station manuals are up to date and enforced, manage customer complaints and compliments in collaboration with Customer Relations, and actively pursue revenue-generating opportunities to sustain station profitability. Physical duties include carrying and handling luggage and performing various physical motions necessary for tasks. They must meet all security and licensing certifications, including obtaining a valid driver’s license and passing thorough background and drug screening checks.

Job Requirements

  • Must pass a ten (10) year background check and pre-employment drug test
  • must have authorization to work in the U.S. as defined in the Immigration Act of 1986
  • must successfully pass fingerprint-based criminal records checks as required by TSA and FAA regulations
  • must pass periodic random drug testing as required in 49 CFR Part 40 for safety-sensitive employees
  • must be able to work a variety of assigned shifts including evenings and weekends
  • must be able to carry 70-pound suitcase from floor to 18 inches and carry it with both hands for up to 25 feet
  • must have physical dexterity for repetitive bending, squatting, kneeling, crawling, twisting, and sustaining positions
  • must maintain composure and professionalism in high-stress situations
  • must demonstrate reliability, good-natured cooperative attitude, attention to detail, and willingness to take responsibilities

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • college preferred
  • three years of supervisory/management experience in the airline industry
  • initial/advanced CSA/GOA services training required by the airline
  • thorough working knowledge of types of aircraft used at the station
  • thorough working knowledge of current FAA/TSA security directives and passenger processing and baggage transfer procedures
  • must possess a valid driver’s license
  • obtain and maintain a current Complaint Resolution Official (CRO) certificate when required
  • obtain Ground Security Coordinator certificate with certification for aircraft over 61 seats
  • possess training certificates for de-icing/anti-icing (if required), aircraft pushback, security search, and security exit door training

Job Duties

  • Establish and maintain safety compliance of aircraft, customers, facilities, and employee working environments
  • address issues and provide corrective action as they warrant
  • ensure compliance with all Federal directives and security requirements
  • audit to ensure quality assurance
  • ensure compliance for controlling of station expenses/cost and maintain an effective cost control program
  • establish airport and local community relations as liaison with airport city officials, FAA, TSA, policy and fire departments
  • coordinate airline vendor functions and act as the liaison for local contracts providing service to airlines including fueling, skycap, security, catering, cleaning, and ground handling
  • evaluate performance and implement appropriate measures to review service provided to airlines
  • ensure compliance of all station manuals and monitor for current revisions and availability
  • ensure compliance of customer service, baggage handling, and departure dependability and monitor and verify quality control
  • establish effective and cost-efficient work schedules for all station employees
  • participate in establishing interview, hiring, and workforce requirements
  • coordinate, provide training and ensure training requirements are met for all employees including new hire, recurrent, supplemental, and local training issues
  • provide feedback, research, and response to customer complaints/compliments in coordination with Customer Relations
  • establish employee recognition programs for station achievements such as safety, performance, and revenue collection programs
  • work to establish contract revenue and actively pursue opportunities to ensure station profitability
  • perform all functions of a Station Agent
  • other duties as assigned by Regional Manager
