Job Requirements

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent
  • Two years of airfield experience in one or more of the following areas: Pilot, aircraft/flight line, airport operations at a small, medium or large hub airport, air traffic control tower operator
  • Possession of a valid Class C driver's license
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection security access clearance within thirty days from date of employment and maintain qualification for CBP security access clearance upon each renewal
  • Ability to work all shifts and extended hours as assigned
  • Ability to pass a medical physical examination
  • This is a designated safety sensitive position requiring passing a drug test prior to employment and submission to random drug screening during employment

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of high school curriculum or equivalent
  • Two years of airfield experience in pilot, aircraft/flight line, airport operations at a small, medium or large hub airport, or air traffic control tower operator
  • Knowledge of applicable federal rules and regulations affecting safe and efficient operation of a FAR Part 139 certificated airport
  • Knowledge of the physical facilities and layout of an airport and of aircraft configurations in accordance with FAA standards
  • Ability to obtain Department of Homeland Security Customs and Border Protection security access clearance within thirty days from date of employment and maintain qualification upon each renewal
  • Ability to work all assigned shifts and extended overtime hours
  • Ability to pass a medical physical examination

Job Duties

  • Conduct ramp observations remove foreign object damage (FOD), document discrepancies, meet with stakeholders to resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Monitor two-way radio communications using airport board and FAA air traffic control (ATC) radio frequencies, coordinate vehicular movement within the AOA via FAA ATC radio frequencies when necessary, communicate with various airport and airport board personnel via radio, phone, or in person
  • Conduct regular inspections of the air operations area (airfield runways, taxiways, lighting and security) to ensure compliance with FAR 139, assist with safety, security and wildlife inspections, report unsafe, hazardous, and threatening conditions to supervisor or proper authority
  • Operate board computer or iPad or smartphone in vehicle to compile data and reports during field work
  • Assist with closing and opening portions of the airfield as necessary to ensure a safe and efficient airfield operation
  • Drive for extended periods of time and escort vehicular traffic within active AOA
  • Document reportable incidents on assigned shift, compile data, inspection records and other information into routine and special reports as necessary
