Job Requirements
- minimum total flight time of 1750 hours
- pilot-in-command time of 1150 hours
- minimum night flying time of 75 hours
- 100 hours flying within the last 12 months
- fixed wing or rotorcraft flight experience totaling at least 500 hours
- instrument time of 75 hours including 10 hours in actual instrument weather
- possession of FAA pilot certificates or military ratings
- valid first or second-class medical certificate
- completion of FAA initial flight test training
- ability to pass flight proficiency checks
- submission of official military flight documentation if applicable
- demonstration of specialized experience equivalent to FV-I, FG/GS-13
- meet all federal employment and aviation standards
Job Qualifications
- current commercial pilot certificate or airline transport pilot rating with necessary ratings
- appropriate military ratings accepted
- possession of a valid first or second-class medical certificate
- demonstrated specialized experience equivalent to federal GS-13 level
- successful completion of FAA flight test training
- proven ability to operate heavy multi-engine airplanes or helicopters
- experience in flight testing and aircraft performance analysis
Job Duties
- operate aircraft or simulators to perform flight tests
- conduct stability, controllability, and performance evaluations
- analyze aircraft performance data
- demonstrate proficiency through flight checks
- complete FAA-required training courses
- maintain recency of flight experience
- comply with all federal aviation regulations
