Job Requirements

  • U.S. citizen
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years
  • Maximum age of 40 for original appointment with possible age waivers
  • 1500 total flight hours (waiver for up to 500 hours available)
  • Minimum 250 Pilot-in-Command hours
  • Minimum 75 instrument hours
  • Minimum 75 night hours
  • 100 flight hours in the last 12 months
  • FAA Class 2 medical certificate dated within last 12 months
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Must complete required training and meet CBP standards

Job Qualifications

  • One year of specialized professional aviation experience
  • Flying as Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator in various flight environments
  • Ability to evaluate information rapidly and make prompt decisions during flight
  • Experience in developing strategies and coordinating aircraft and ground operations
  • Proficiency using information systems and databases
  • FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with required instrument ratings
  • Military flight experience equivalent to required certifications

Job Duties

  • Conducting air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to the interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels
  • Monitoring behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels believed to be engaged in illegal activities
  • Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence
  • Supporting search and rescue and humanitarian efforts
