Job Requirements
- U.S. citizen
- Minimum 1,000 to 1,500 total flight hours with 250 Pilot-in-Command hours, 75 instrument hours, and 75 night hours
- Valid FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification or military equivalent
- FAA Class 2 medical certificate within the last 12 months
- Residency in the U.S. for at least three of the last five years
- Maximum age limit of 40 years for initial appointment
- Ability to complete CBP training requirements
- Willingness to work in any duty location within the selected region
- Compliance with veterans' preference eligibility rules
- Ability to travel as required
Job Qualifications
- FAA Commercial or ATP Pilot Certification with appropriate ratings
- Military equivalent pilot certification accepted
- One year of specialized professional aviation experience
- Experience flying in all environments including night, poor weather, low altitudes, and high speed
- Strong decision-making skills during in-flight operations
- Ability to develop strategies for coordinating air and ground resources
- U.S. citizenship
- Compliance with age and residency requirements for federal law enforcement positions
Job Duties
- Conduct air patrol, surveillance, and pursuit activities related to interdiction of smuggled contraband via land vehicles, aircraft, or vessels
- Monitor behavior patterns and activities of suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels engaged in illegal activities
- Collect, refine, and analyze strategic and tactical intelligence
- Support search and rescue and humanitarian efforts
- Operate as Pilot-in-Command or sole manipulator of aircraft
- Coordinate aircraft and ground assets for mission success
- Utilize information systems and databases for operational support
